Hawaiʻi Coalition
for Civil Rights

What began as an urgent alliance against discriminatory executive orders evolved
into a powerful collective voice for justice in Hawaiʻi.
Together, we mobilize over 100 leading civil rights, social justice and community organizations and leaders.

Background

The Hawai’i Coalition for Civil Rights (HCCR) was initially formed in 2017 as a direct response to unprecedented challenges to civil liberties and immigrant rights.

HCCR mobilized local organizations to condemn anti-Muslim policies, organized impactful demonstrations, and provided crucial support to Hawai’i’s elected officials as they fought injustice at the federal level.

In 2025, HCCR re-emerged due to the attack on federal policies and programs which destroy social justice, immigrant rights and the rule of law.  HCCR’s broad coalition provides a unique platform to advocate, share information and collectively promote social justice and equal rights in Hawai`i and the nation.
